Metrolinx Train Stations and the effects of Climate Change

Problem Statement

Ideal

Interesting and interactive way of viewing a summary of Metrolinx's report on the effects of climate change on train stations

Reality

Although Metrolinx has tried to communicate the problem to the general public through a 70 page report, this is not the best way to communicate such problem.

Consequences

The public does not want to read a long report on how climate change can effect train stations, so the public is not aware of the issues related to climate change on transit systems

Proposal

To create an interactive tool, accessible online, that shares the climate challenges on train stations raised by Metrolinx in a user-friendly way.

Technology to be Used

ArcHub, Map Viewer, ArcGIS Developers, Web app builder, ArcGIS Online ecosystem

How it Went - The Solution

In the end, we were able to create possible tools to share knowledge about Metrolinx train stations and their vulnerability to the changing climate. Our focus was on utilizing ArcGIS products to create our solution, and although we had intended on using ArcGIS Hub, our inability to do so led us to other tools that could provide an interactive and accessible application.

Take a look at what we found.
